Hello,

We wanted to let you know the facility Lavabit is currently hosted out of will be shutting down this week. Unfortunately, they have just notified us the network may go offline sooner than we anticipated. Since we haven't finished working out the details of our migration strategy, we are anticipating downtime. While we strive for 99.999% reliability, it appears we will fall short in this case.

The system may go offline as early as February 24th, 2025. We realize this isn?t much advance notice. That said, we're hoping to restore mail services relatively quickly.
i received this email on 2/23/25 and since then lavabit has been flat. well they have announced problems, but does anyone here have a wire to lavabit and maybe more background info?

We anticipate it will take longer to migrate our website and virtual private network (VPN) services to the new facility. In an what we hope is an unnecessary precaution, we recommend backing up your data before the system goes offline. Just as a simple protection against anything unforeseen.

For those with paid subscriptions, we will be extending your renewal dates as a result of this imminent inconvenience. For users with legacy subscriptions, all we can offer is an apology. We hope all you will continue using our service.
